“What is necessary for Life is invincible to the eye.”  ~Leo Buscaglia

The basic philosophy and science of chiropractic is that the full expression of life and health in the body is directly related to the proper function and health of the Central Nervous System (CNS; aka spinal cord). The CNS is the most important organ in the body! It communicates that message of proper function and health to every cell, tissue, organ, and system in the body. Although we can’t see this communication, we can measure its function.

One of the most important functions of the Spine, is to protect the CNS. If you’ve ever had an injury to your spine, recent or past, regardless if you’re experiencing decreased health anywhere in your body, consider having your spine and CNS checked by your chiropractor. Many times we don’t remember an injury to our spine, or overlook small injuries. We also forget that the process of birth can be traumatic to our spine and CNS, and often goes un-noticed or un-checked. Many times we won’t experience the decreased health and dysfunction side-effects for weeks, months, or years later. This makes it difficult to connect the two as cause and effect.

The experience of health as something we ‘feel’ can be very misleading. Every disease, disorder, or dysfunction we experience in our bodies occurs as a process of time. Many of these aren’t discovered until late in this process, which correlates to the level of damage or degeneration sustained in the body, and further relates to the length of time for recovery and health, if at all. According to the CDC, in 2006, the three leading causes of death in our country are heart disease, cancer, and stroke. These all occur as a process of time beginning with Dis-ease (lack of ease or normal function), disorder, dysfunction, and eventually the process of disease and pathology.

The body is a self healing and self regulating organism. When given the proper conditions, the potential for health is incredible. Health is also a process of time. The Health process of Correction, Maintenance, Prevention, and Wellness are all achievable with a healthy spine, nervous system, and lifestyle. Consult your chiropractor regularly as a Health resource to care for your spine and nervous system for optimal health.

Chiropractically yours,

A.C.C. Asks some important questions of interest to San Jose residents - Chiropractor San Jose A.C.C. Asks...

What causes subluxations?
Chiropractors acknowledge three types of stress: physical, chemical and emotional. When the adaptive capacity of your body is compromised, weakened areas along the spine can become involved. Muscles tighten, spinal joints lock up and nearby nerves are affected. The purpose of chiropractic care is to find these areas and restore balance, alignment and motion.
What's a side effect?
It may sound like a bonus; something extra, but chiropractors know it should more accurately called an "unintended effect," and "unwanted effect" or in some cases an "adverse effect." A pill can't come close to matching your body's ability to create and deliver the essential compounds it needs. That's when it's important to make sure your nervous system is working correctly—the purpose of chiropractic care!
